Their History
According to the elementary school's website, "Patrick Elementary School is named after Mr. Bobby Patrick who was the first Gwinnett County firefighter to lose his life in the line of duty on April 14, 2003. Mr. Patrick lived in the Buford area for 18 years. He was an industrial arts teacher at the high school level before becoming a firefighter. His wife was a retired educator who taught at Sugar Hill Elementary. Bobby Patrick taught hundreds of children about fire safety and spent many hours volunteering in schools. He is remembered by friends and family as a kind man who cared deeply for his community, his family and his faith. We are honored to carry on his legacy and his name at Patrick Elementary."
